The Single Origin of the Month will focus on promoting a different coffee farm/producer each month. This City Roast profile will highlight the notes and flavors of the beans that each farmer expects in every cup.

This month’s offering is washed coffee beans from Tanzania.

This coffee comes from the Shilanga Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (ACMOS). Founded in 1993, it is located in the Songwe region of Tanzania. It’s composed of 193 farmers from the villages of Shilanga, Shinola, Wely, Igale, and Ichesa. The producers of this coffee have farms between 1-2 hectares in size and intercrop with bananas and avocado. The coffee is fully washed and processed on the farms using a coffee pulper purchased in 2013 and a Penagos ecopulper in 2019. Further processing in buckets for fermentation and dried on raised beds.

The cup, has a very nice delivery. Sweet brown sugar honey aroma, juicy smooth medium to full body, clean sweet fruity lingering aftertaste, exotic well balanced intense flavor and crisp bright tangy winey acidity with caramel, stone fruit, and nutty notes.
